CBD has the ability to affect multiple systems within the human body through a variety of mechanisms. CBD is non-addictive as well as non-intoxicating, providing a wide therapeutic window. CBD is supported by a large body of scientific research that continues to grow. Altruist CBD aims to provide comfort backed by science.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP & MARIJUANA?
The difference between Hemp and Marijuana plants has been debated for years. the origin of these plants begins with the fact that they both are Cannabis. Cannabis contains two distinct species, Sativa and Indica, which later better known as Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) and Marijuana (Cannabis Indica). Marijuana was bred to contain high amounts of THC, which is intoxicating, and low amounts of CBD. Hemp was bred to contain high amounts of CBD with a small amount of THC (less than 0.3%). Cannabis (Hemp and Marijuana) has been cultivated and used by humans during the last 10,000 years for food, textiles, and medicine.

CBD is considered to be food-based derived from the Hemp Plant. For this reason, there are no restrictions on the production, sale, and consumption of Hemp-derived CBD in the United States. CBD is legal in most countries around the world as long is it contains low concentrations of THC. A prescription or medical card are not required to purchase CBD.

The high associated with marijuana is produced by the large amounts of THC present in the flowers. Altruist CBD is extracted from legal, cannabinoid-rich, hemp that contains less than 0.3% THC.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS TO TAKING CBD?

WHAT IS THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM?
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) supports various biological tasks, including energy & balance, immune function, memory, metabolism, sleep, and the function of the autonomic nervous system and is found in all mammalian life. The ECS is made up of a series of receptor sites on cells and enzymes. The two main receptor sites are called Cannabinoid receptor 1 and 2 (CB1 and CB2). CB1 receptors are commonly found in the central nervous system which includes the brain and spinal cord, while CB2 receptors are mainly found in the peripheral nervous system which includes our immune system. The ECS produces our bodies’ own endocannabinoids and can be affected by the extracts found in hemp, such as CBD, to provide additional benefit to the consumer.
